What Tally Is
Tally is an AI-powered personal assistant that communicates via SMS. It is operated by Effluent Labs LLC ("we", "us", "our").
Information We Collect
When you use Tally, we collect and store:
- Phone number - to identify your account and send/receive messages
- SMS messages - the content of messages you send to and receive from Tally
- Memory items - facts, preferences, and context you share with Tally that it stores to be more helpful
- Calendar data - if you connect your Google Calendar, Tally reads and writes events on your behalf
- Email metadata - if you connect Gmail, Tally reads email headers and snippets (sender, subject, preview) to surface important messages. Tally does not read full email bodies.
- Health data - if you connect an Oura Ring, Tally reads sleep and readiness scores
- Property data - if you set up home maintenance, Tally stores your address and property details
How We Use Your Information
- To provide personalized assistance via SMS
- To send morning briefings, reminders, and proactive notifications you've opted into
- To generate personalized product recommendations and content pages
- To improve Tally's responses and features
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers.
SMS / Text Messaging Program
Program name: Tally. Program description: Tally is a conversational SMS assistant operated by Effluent Labs LLC.
How you opt in: You opt in by sending a text message to Tally at (908) 680-7971 - for example after seeing the number at tallytxt.com. Sending that first message is your consent to receive recurring conversational and informational text messages (replies, reminders, daily briefings, and notifications) at the number you texted from. If an existing user invites you, you will receive a single invitation message only; recurring messages begin only if you reply.
- Message frequency varies based on your usage and the notifications you enable.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP at any time to cancel and stop receiving all messages.

- Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with, or obtained by, any third parties.
Third-Party Services
Tally uses the following third-party services to function:
- Twilio - SMS delivery
- Google (Gemini / Claude) - AI processing of your messages
- Google Calendar & Gmail APIs - calendar and email access you authorize
- Oura - health data you authorize
- SerpAPI - web search for answering questions and product research
- RentCast - property data lookup
Your messages are processed by AI models to generate responses. These services have their own privacy policies.
Product Recommendations & Affiliate Links
When Tally recommends products, some links may include affiliate tags (e.g., Amazon Associates). If you purchase through these links, Effluent Labs may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Tally's recommendations are based solely on your needs and preferences - they are never influenced by affiliate relationships.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a secured Google Cloud SQL database. Access is restricted to authorized services via Google Cloud IAM. Secrets (API keys, tokens) are stored in Google Secret Manager.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Temporary content pages expire after 7 days. You can request deletion of your data at any time by texting Tally or contacting us directly.
Your Rights
- Text STOP to unsubscribe from all Tally messages
- Ask Tally to delete specific memories or your entire profile
- Disconnect integrations (Calendar, Gmail, Oura) at any time
- Request a copy of your stored data
Children's Privacy
Tally is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
